In collaboration with Riga Photography Biennale 2016 Latvian Museum of Photography calls for applications for two-day masterclass “Concepts of editing” and portfolio review led by award winning photographer Sarker Protick (VII Photo). Participation fee: 60 euro.


Photography exhibition “What remains” featuring works by Bangladesh photographer Protick Sarker will be exhibited from 14 of April till 15 of May. This exhibition is a part of Riga Photography Biennial 2016. The masterclass will be held on Latvian Museum of Photography in 16 and 17 of April from 10 o’clock till 3 p.m. During this masterclass, the participants will explore the character of different mediums for editing including newspaper, magazine, book, online publications, exhibitions and multimedia projects etc. There will be several exercises and portfolio review connected to participants’ new or ongoing project. Each participant will edit fellow participant’s work as an exercise. Instructor will review the edit and give their feedback. The participants will have an opportunity to look at other’s work from an insider’s perspective and understand the process of editing of each and every work. The masterclass will be held in English.
Photographer Protick Sarker was born in 1986, in Bangladesh. He has studied photography in Bangladesh, Norway and USA. In 2014, Protick Sarker (1986) was named in British Journal Of Photography’s annual ‘Ones to Watch’. The same year, he was selected for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass. In 2015, he was listed in PDN’s 30 emerging photographers of the year. His photographs have been published in The New York Times, GEO Magazine, The New Yorker, Liberation, Sunday Times, National Geographic, Wired, The British Journal of Photography, The Zeit, among many others.
