Ivars Austers (1967), in his series “33 Greenhouses” has united photos of greenhouses found in different places around Latvia.
Each little construction is different – some of them are well taken care of, some of them have just the frame left standing. The photographer has stayed in a neutral position and has captured greenhouses from the point of view of a passerby. The pictures have documentary characteristics and this series of photos is a visual testimony to peoples' activities in the environment. Black and white pictures have been copied by the artist himself, attracting attention to the relationship between light and darkness in the pictures. |
